Shaun+Nikolette - The Statler Hotel
About a week or two before their wedding, Nikolette told me that she was in talks with The Statler in Dallas to allow us to shoot portraits around the hotel since they had a suite booked for their wedding night. If you haven't heard of The Statler yet, it is new and it is dope! Seriously. Dope. The hotel gave us the okay and PRAISE that they did!
The wedding ended around 3:30 that afternoon and we started back up at 5pm. We got coffee, had dance parties and brought sweet Niko to tears at least three times. The hour passed SO quickly but I knew that we needed to end everything on a very specific note to wrap up a hectic, exhausting day the right way. After an intimate elevator ride where Shaun kissed Niko on the forehead like he likes to do, I had the newly married couple settle into one last dance together. It was their song and they were the only two people in the world for those three minutes.
Yeah, The Statler is dope and I was SO excited to shoot there. But dang, it's not about that. It is about the way these two look at each other. The respect and compassion that is so visible. I love, love, love After Sessions but this one will ALWAYS be one I hold tight to.
